Santa Fe Restaurant Week The Ranch House

ranch house santa fe

We are dedicated to using Local and Natural Beef whenever possible. We decided to feature Italian cuisine because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love Italian food?! We have chosen our favorite dishes from all over Italy... When this building across the street from our sister restaurant The Ranch House became available, we leaped at the opportunity to bring another local restaurant to the Southside, where friends and family can wine, dine and unwind.

The Ranch House is proud to serve USDA Prime, All Natural, Hormone Free Beef

“My uncle was doing barbecue and I saw his operation in Oklahoma City and it was intriguing to me,” Baum says. “The way they did the meats, the slow cooking of the meats and how, once you cooked it, it was ready—it was a whole different cuisine. I just had not had a lot of barbecue in Santa Fe and I thought if I could take barbecue and cater it more to Santa Fe tastes, it would be a fun challenge. People didn’t grow up with barbecue here, so we use oak, a milder flavored wood, and incorporate chile.

SANTA FE BBQ BAR & GRILL

Locals and visitors alike flock to The Ranch House for Baum’s unique barbecue—signature dishes that include red chile honey glazed baby back ribs, green chile brisket and pork belly tacos with apple cider barbecue topped with green chile slaw. One of the most popular meals here is smoked prime rib with a choice of two sides, served only for Friday and Saturday dinners. For big appetites, there’s nothing like the Ranch House Platter, a feast of brisket, pork, baby back ribs and sausage, along with the famous green chile cornbread and two sides. Or try the “Grandpappi of Burgers,” the Ultimate Burger, piled high with Tillamook sharp cheddar, pulled pork, Hatch green chile, bacon, red chile honey glaze, crispy onions and green chile slaw. Regulars know to leave room for homemade dessert, as the bourbon vanilla crème brûlée, chocolate peanut butter mousse and other options offer a delightful end note to your meal.

Meats

We get customers from Texas and other places who seem to like it, too. The pasta is made in-house and all ingredients are carefully sourced. That’s because Josh Baum—who owns The Ranch House with his wife, Ann Gordon—is a master at smoking meats, a skill he honed while working with his uncle, Steve Seikel, helping him open his second Steve’s Rib restaurant in Oklahoma City.

The Ranch House also offers delectable seafood—BBQ shrimp pasta, salmon tacos topped with green chile slaw, grilled salmon with brown butter BBQ glaze—and New Mexico fare such as enchiladas with smoked chicken, green chile brisket and other fillings. Baum uses quality ingredients, sourcing a portion of hormone- and antibiotic-free beef from New Mexico ranchers and hormone-free dairy products from farms that promote open grazing. The menu includes gluten-free options and the kitchen is happy to accommodate diners with any special dietary needs.

We are proud to serve USDA Prime, all-natural steak, and our hormone free dairy products come exclusively from farms that promote open grazing. We are proud to source a portion of our hormone and antibiotic free beef from Cedars River Ranch in Colorado, and our hormone free dairy products come exclusively from farms that promote open grazing. All Day at The Ranch House

For all of these reasons, The Ranch House is known as “Not Your Average Barbecue Joint,” but there’s more. Since opening in 2011 as a reincarnation of Josh’s BBQ (the wildly popular one-room eatery in a Cerrillos Road mall,), the restaurant has been an integral part of the Santa Fe community. The Ranch House hosts an annual Teacher Appreciation Day, when teachers eat for free, and participates in Angel’s Night Out, when a portion of dinner proceeds benefits Kitchen Angels, which feeds Santa Fe’s homebound. The result was The Ranch House, which serves up Josh’s signature specialties in a casually sophisticated setting.

City of Santa Fe Water Conservation

Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish, or eggs may increase your risk of food-borne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions. In 2005, Josh Baum and his wife, Ann Gordon, started a small restaurant to showcase Josh’s passion for smoked meats. Josh’s BBQ became a mainstay of Santa Fe, but after five years it outgrew its little spot on Zafarano Drive. So in December 2011, the couple expanded their vision and moved to a larger space. We use Texas brown oak to smoke our meats to perfection!

The Late-Night Love Story of LAs Koreatown and Vietnamese Pho Eater LA

house of pho

But within the confines of Koreatown, Vietnamese pho has experienced exceeding popularity since the early ’90s. Why Vietnam’s national dish, and why in Koreatown? It turns out that steaming bowls of beef broth and chewy rice noodles serve as panaceas for late-night hangovers while also working as quick, satisfying, and reasonably priced family meals.

Bobaholic Tea House offers up bubble tea, snacks, and pho in south Fargo

The teas are priced from $4.95 to $6.95, depending on the ingredients and preparation. Non-dairy, no-caffeine kids drinks are also available and include flavors such as mango, taro, strawberry, honeydew and chocolate. For coffee lovers, there is Vietnamese coffee, sea salt coffee, crème brûlée coffee, and jelly coffee. Pho Pasteur in Rosemead makes a fantastic brisket pho. The rice noodles, made fresh, are chewy and don’t stick together. Most importantly, the broth is complex but not overwhelming.

View Menu

We focus our menu to showcase traditional herbs and spices, incorporating the essence of rich bold flavor into our bone broth noodle soups. The enduring popularity of pho restaurants in Koreatown, whether the 24-hour model or shops with Korean influences, suggests that steaming soup bowls continue to resonate in the neighborhood, no matter the form. At Seoul Pho, located on the rooftop food court of California Market, the pho comes with the option of a large beef rib, the broth heavy on garlic, and supplemented with notes of sweetness from a side of pickled red onions. These flavors resonate with the Korean palate, which appreciates heady garlic and sweet, pickled items, and the big beef bone swimming in broth is familiar to those who grew up eating galbitang.

With so many great Korean soups, and even other Asian specialties like ramen or Taiwanese beef noodle soup favored across the city, pho has remained a beloved dish in Koreatown. But there may be another reason for its staying power. “Knowing Korean business owners, it’s simple,” says Kim. “It’s not hard to put some beef bones in some water. That’s easy to execute.” The dish’s affordability, compounded with its similarities to Korean soups, made it a no-brainer business model for the community. The neighborhood’s rich restaurant scene has long supported traditional Korean food like the pork belly bossam of Kobawoo House or the marinated crabs of Ondal.

Pho 24 owner Connie Park aims to keep her broth simple. “My style is Koreatown style, not Vietnam style. The Pho 24 pho is less salty and more onion-forward — Park is quick to emphasize that her broth uses only sea salt and no MSG. Her top seller is a spicy oyster soup geared toward Korean palates.

The chicken is leaner than conventional types, and it’s served on the side with an addicting garlic and ginger dipping sauce. If you’re ordering for two, try throwing in the Hainan chicken for good measure. The menu at Bobaholic includes several types of crafted teas, including milk and supreme milk teas (using oat milk or organic whole milk), and teas made with tiger sugar (a sweet, caramelized brown sugar).

Sliced squash, cabbage, shrimp, and mushrooms are first tossed in a wok. The broth, which uses the same beef base as the standard pho dishes, is mixed with four types of chiles, giving the soup a red tint. Mussels and oysters swirl atop a pile of rice noodles. The finished product is an umami-rich seafood stew with a healthy kick, a sort of jjampong overlaid on pho, a dish that could only be found in Koreatown.

Pho Pasteur is also known for their bun bo hue, a beef soup with rice noodles thicker and rounder than pho. It gets crowded in here, but there’s a service bell attached to each table to help expedite the entire process. If you are no stranger to the slurp, then Phở 79 is likely already on your circuit. Opened in the early 80s, it's widely considered to ladle some of the best and most praiseworthy pho in southern California. The simple interior is enlivened by a bright yellow wall adorned with numerous accolades. It's spartan but clean, and you're here for the pho, not the fashion show. Place your name on the clipboard by the front door and expect a wait.

Best Korean Restaurants in Los Angeles

House of Pho offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a modern restaurant setting. Our dishes are created from family recipes, infusing traditional herbs and spices and quality ingredients to build the rich and bold flavors of our bone broth noodle "pho" soups. It takes a great amount of care to achieve the sweet but savory taste of the bone broth and maintain the aromatics of the earthy tones of the spices. The menu is complemented by the influences of the North.

With two locations in the San Fernando Valley, Pho 999 is one of the few places in the 818 to get your pho fix. The Van Nuys location is right next to the 99 Ranch market. Admittedly, the soup isn’t as fantastic as the selections in the San Gabriel Valley and Orange County, but it works well for the price point.

The ingredient-to-soup ratio is idyllic; they’re very generous with their raw beef and thinly sliced onions. The pho dac biet is highly recommended - “dac biet” means “combo with everything.” The small will cost you $7.95 and comes with a hefty ensemble of rare beef, well-done brisket, flank, tendon, and tripe. The whole bowl is flavorful enough already, but you can ask for a side of their beef oil to take it up another notch. This place is a chicken specialist, so sticking to poultry is suggested - the pho ga (chicken pho) is a standout.

We also have a wide variety of non-authentic dishes as well, from Stir-fried Lo Mein to Rice Dishes, even an entire page of Vegetarian dishes to choose from.. Bobaholic Tea House is next to the Family Fare store in the First Center South shopping mall.

It makes sense that pho took off for the Korean community, says Daniel Kim, whose family has owned produce purveyors and sushi restaurants in Koreatown since he was a child. “Seolleongtang and soups are things we have in our daily diet that we understand. Pho had condiments and vegetables that we’re used to,” says Kim. “But it was also unique for us, with cilantro and basil. The broth at Viet Huong in South El Monte is bursting with flavor.

The baked catfish and beef over tomato rice are also recommended. Boba tea — also called bubble tea in some parts of the U.S. — originated in Taiwan in the 1980s and made its way to the U.S. in the 1990s, according to the online website Delish. It is a mix of black tea, milk, ice, and tapioca pearls (also called boba) — served with a large straw for the boba, which collects at the bottom of the cup. The shop's signage is attractive, and the interior has a sleek, welcoming and modern look, with blonde wood tables and chairs and plenty of lighting. House of Pho proudly serves all who are looking to have a taste of our Vietnamese culture.

Southern pho is the more common one, with an abundant use of spices and flavorings (fish sauce, hoisin, etc.) and versatile cuts of meat like tripe and brisket. Northern pho is much more simplistic - the noodles are flatter and wider, and the focus is on its pure beef broth. The main ingredients are rice noodles and thinly sliced raw beef. Here are some of the best places to get your pho fix in Los Angeles.

American Institute of Steel Construction

Natural lighting also plays a role in choice of the width of floor plate. In larger buildings, a long-span solution provides a considerable enhancement in flexibility of layout. For air conditioned offices, a clear span of 15 m to 18 m is often used. Canadian Institute of Steel Construction publishes the "CISC Handbook of steel Construction". CISC is a national industry organization representing the structural steel, open-web steel joist and steel plate fabrication industries in Canada.

Level Up Your End-Plate Moment Connections

Fabrication typically requires a large and well-equipped shop and a range of operations. The duration of fabrication for a typical job varies from three to eight weeks depending on the complexity, amount of welding, and use of an automated beam line. Composite construction is the dominant form of construction for the multi-storey building sector. Its success is due to the strength and stiffness that can be achieved, with minimum use of materials, utilising the compressive strength of concrete and the tensile strength of steel. Composite floors offer significant advantages related to speed of construction and reduced overall construction depth. Building frames may be broadly classified by their stability system, as braced or continuous frames .

encouraging collaboration and interaction

steel design

Composite beams involve the transfer of force between the steel section and the concrete which it supports, preventing slip and thus ensuring the two elements perform as a composite whole. For beams located wholly under the slab (known as "downstand" beams) the transfer of force is commonly achieved using headed shear studs, which are attached to the upper flange of the steel beam. Studs are usually welded on site, through the decking, to the (unpainted) top flange of the beam. Alternatively, smaller shear connectors may be shot-fired to the steel beam. In some forms of construction, the shear bond between the steel member and the encasing concrete is sufficient to provide composite action without additional shear connectors. Within Altair S-FRAME, models can be idealized to 1D or 2D finite elements, analyzed, and validated against design codes while considering as many loading conditions as needed.

What are Methods of Steel Structure Design?

Now, let’s add some context to understand the overall statics of the building where the beam is part of. Provision is included for modifications to suit any unorthodox construction. Member design is often completed using software, of by reference to the resistance tables in the 'Blue Book'.

Our insulated metal roof and wall panels allows you to have control over interior climates, even on snow days. We employ traditional and non-traditional metallurgy techniques and tools to bend, cut, and fabricate a range of metals into the forms we visualize. FCP works as an extension of your project team by coordinating with project leaders and then focuses on getting the project done.

This has the key advantage of column-free space, allowing future adaptability, and fewer foundations. For the designer, a steel solution means reliable materials, assured material and section properties, precise off-site manufacture and extensive support including software, design guides and easy to use resistance tables. All structural hot-rolled sections produced in the U.S. are made in electric arc furnaces, which use electricity to melt cars, refrigerators, decommissioned bridges, and other scrap into new steel without any loss of quality. In fact, American structural steel is 93% recycled and 100% recyclable. Instead of going to the landfill or an incinerator, decommissioned bridges and buildings go right back into the supply chain to become steel again and again.

⬇️ Characteristic Loads of Steel Beam

Resistance factors for LRFD and safety factors for ASD will be discussed as well as calibrating ASD to LRFD. The session will discuss steel as a material, various steel shapes, and will introduce 1st and 2nd order structural analysis. Our process includes a review of preliminary drawings by local engineers from municipalities throughout California, who provide detailed engineering information with their stamp of approval. Our factory affiliates then fab each system according to the engineer-stamped plans, using high-quality materials and advanced manufacturing processes. Our clients receive a custom building system that is easy to assemble on-site.

Glazing systems Generally triple glazing or double layer facades supported on aluminium posts or glass fins. Braced steel cores may be used as an economic alternative where speed of construction is critical. An example of a braced steel core is shown in the figure above middle. Note that Allowable Strength Design is NOT equivalent to Allowable Stress Design, as governed by AISC 9th Edition.

The AISC Steel Construction Manual, 15th edition, is a highly recommended text for this class. The presentations will make frequent reference to specific sections of the 2016 AISC Specification. Examples will use data taken from the Manuals and illustrate the use of design tables. Our prefabricated steel buildings are not only more economical than a conventional building, but also good for the environment.

The higher the power, the higher the stability coefficient, and vice versa. Metal Buildings design from Havit Steel provides an optimized solution for your project. We can provide you with the most efficient design and construction plan, which is fast and smooth to complete construction for your steel building projects. Gas metal arc (GMAW) or metal inert gas (MIG) welding processes use a continuous filler metal electrode supplied by solid wire on a reel. These are considered semi-automatic and are relatively easy to learn.

Welding processes differ by base metals, method of shielding, filler metal type and form of input, heat input, and feasible deposition rate (pounds of filler metal per hour). At least three bolt, nut, and washer assemblies from each lot is tested to verify the bolts’ ability to develop the required tension. The billboard erection method progresses the full height of a building, bay by bay.

Detailed guidance on robustness strategies for steel framed buildings designed in accordance with the Eurocode is available. Long spans result in flexible, column-free internal spaces, reduced substructure costs, and reduced erection times. This broad range of benefits means that they are commonly used in a wide range of building types. The span range of various structural options in both steel and concrete are shown in the table.

Tightened with a special electric wrench, these bolts are designed so that the splined end shears off when the bolt reaches the required tension. Load indicator washers (ASTM F959), also termed direct tension indicators, provide another method of verifying correct tension. They include a protrusion that is flattened to a prescribed gap during bolt tensioning.

Although standardised semi-continuous connections are designed to transfer moment, they are partial strength. The standardised connections may require more expensive fabrication than standardised nominally pinned connections, but due to their partial strength are significantly cheaper than nominally rigid connections. Trusses may be exposed within the structure and be fabricated from hollow sections for aesthetic appeal. Large loads may require the use of open sections (UKC, typically) or sections built up from plate.

Brooklyn Wing House Restaurant in Brooklyn Menus & Photos

It’s a home that appeals to the disc jockey, the architecture buff or a bachelor in equal measure. Who knows, maybe it will serve as inspiration for another famous building some day, like the Wave House did, and you’ll be able to say you own the original. Sweet Iced Tea

Gesner was commissioned to design this Flying Wing house by Mike Hynes, a lumber mill owner. According to the Los Angeles Times, Hynes wanted a home that would show off his company’s wood—hence the abundance of timber in the construction. That was in the 1970s; it’s now owned by the estate of Erick Morillo, a DJ who passed away in September. He’s perhaps best known for writing the hit song “I Like to Move It.” There’s even a fully equipped recording studio on the property—a separate building from the main residence—where you can record your own chart toppers. I got the sweet chilli wings and the jerk chicken empanadas....

Hotville Chicken

This Korean restaurant will dust its chicken with a variety of flavored powders one might normally find on potato chips, including sour cream and onion, garlic Parmesan, cheddar, Buffalo and barbecue. The powders are offered as an option for the larger pieces of chicken, but if you ask nicely, they will make it rain cheese powder on your wings. The fine powder settles into the crannies created by the chicken’s ragged, crisp coating, giving each bite the sensation of tipping your head back, holding up a bag of chips and emptying every last crumb into your mouth. Chef Mario Christerna is making a wing for every persuasion and occasion at his new Boyle Heights restaurant, Brooklyn Ave.

Ooh...the passionfruit lemonade is the bomb, very refreshing, not too sweet, not too sour. The expansive glass-and-wood residence sits on about an acre of land, perched atop a promontory with amazing, 300-degree views of Los Angeles. There’s parking for about six cars on the site, as well as an infinity pool and space on both the upper and lower levels of the home for outdoor entertaining. We won't share your details with any third parties, but may send out promotional messages from third parties looking to promote local restaurant related news, specials, events or happenings. The blazing-red chicken wings at Kim Prince’s Nashville hot chicken restaurant should be required eating. If you’ve never been to Nashville and you want to try hot chicken, this is the place. The wings are about the size of a baseball, dredged and fried until beautifully crisp and saturated with hot oil and spices.

Bulgolgi Hut, the once-bustling Korean barbecue restaurant in Koreatown, launched a fried chicken business last summer. It was one of the many pivots the restaurant has made to survive during the pandemic, including offering Korean barbecue kits and bento boxes. The chicken here is fried perfectly, with each wing encased in a force field of crunch. But while most soy garlic wings are heavy on the soy, and tend to lean sweet, the wings at Chicken Hut are delightfully pungent with garlic.

Luxury Real Estate Prices Hit a Record High in the First Quarter, a New Report Says

Gesner fulfilled Hynes’ vision, as the hilltop perch employs a structural system of wood poles and features living spaces loaded with lumber. Few can claim ownership of a home designed by Harry Gesner. Now, there’s a rare opportunity to snap up one of the midcentury architect’s homes—more specifically the Flying Wing House, a Hollywood Hills manse that looks like a big wooden bird or plane perched on a hill—for $8 million. The wings at Zach Pollack’s Italian restaurant are stained a menacing red. They are doused in what the chef has dubbed Zach’s Red Hot, a play on the classic wing sauce, only much, much better.

The medium might bring a tear to your eye, while the hot will smack you right in the face (in a good way). The charred lime that accompanies your order of wings is an integral part of the dish, not just a pretty garnish. My Chinese mother recognized the smell of the chicken wings from Needle in Silver Lake before I opened the box.

This is straightforward, excellent chicken, made using Alice Ragland, a.k.a. Granny’s, recipe. The chicken is marinated overnight in seasoning salt, dredged in flour and then fried. Based on the form of a bird, the architectural gem was built by Gesner in the 1970s for Mike Hynes, a lumber mill owner who reportedly wanted the home to showcase his company’s wood.

With unmatched levels of attentive hospitality & contagious energy, they are more than servers, the WingHouse Girls are an extension of the party & our biggest brand ambassadors.

The menu includes the classic Buffalo and sweet chile wings, lemon pepper wings with fine curls of lemon zest, mole-coated wings and habanero barbecue wings. The wood-fired wings are charred and smoky, drizzled with a cilantro herb gremolata. But our favorite might be the Flaming Hot Cheetos wings, coated in Hot Cheetos dust and topped with globs of nacho cheese. They allow me to channel my inner coed — the one who used to eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with chopsticks (didn’t want to stain my fingers) while guzzling a Snapple on my way home from class.

The home, which is about 4,500 square feet, has the same angular look as many of Gesner’s designs, though in this case the inspiration likely had more to do with family history than midcentury aesthetics. Gesner’s uncle was John Northrop, the inventor of the “Flying Wing” airplane, a prototype that never made its way to production but still made waves for its design, which looked like one big wing. Little did Northrop know that his 1940s idea isn’t too far off from where we are now, with similarities between his sketches and the new, fuel-efficient “Flying-V” jet. The service was very patient and knowledgeable of the menu. Another of the architect’s most notable works, however, just surfaced for sale across the city in the Hollywood Hills, where the Flying Wing house is up for grabs at $8 million. Harry Gesner’s name will always be linked to his iconic Wave House, a curvy coastal home that hovers above the ocean in Malibu and served as the inspiration for the Sydney Opera House.

She said they reminded her of the soy sauce chicken wings her grandmother made frequently when she was a child, and that they were just as good. Chef Ryan Wong’s wings are distinctly aromatic with notes of star anise and fennel. The skin is soft and slick like Hainan chicken but colored a deep brown from the soy-intensive sauce that infiltrates the skin, meat and bones. If you grew up eating something similar, you will find these wings instantly comforting. The wings at this Central-Alameda soul food restaurant are for fried chicken purists. They are full wings (drumette and flats attached) accompanied by two sides (be sure one of them is the collard greens) and a cornbread muffin.

That’s because Kasabyan adds fresh Carolina Reaper peppers to the mix for an extra kick that leaves a lingering dry heat long after you’ve cleaned the bones. The wings from Comfort LA resist getting soggy, even after an hour in a takeout box. The skin remains nubby and brittle, with an ethereal crunch. But what makes these wings so addictive is a healthy shake of the restaurant’s signature spice blend, which tastes of dried rosemary, chile, sugar and green onion. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself dabbing at every last bit of seasoning in the bottom of the box. The living spaces are sunny concoctions of wood and glass with a few splashes of brick.

Chef Brandon Kida is making a style of chicken unique to Los Angeles for his new pop-up called Go Go Bird. Kida makes a cross between Nashville hot chicken and Sichuan Chongqing chicken, with a marinade that highlights white soy, kombu and koji. The wings are dredged and fried, with a craggy coating and an airy crunch. They get their deep rust color from Kida’s signature chile oil, which also produces a toasted chile flavor and that familiar mala numbing sensation. Imagine a more intense Frank’s Red Hot but with a fruity zing from fresh chiles rather than vinegar. Pollack also decided to give the traditional blue cheese dressing dip an update. He serves his wings alongside a cup of creamy Gorgonzola sauce. When they weres creating sauces for the wings at their Valley Glen restaurant Bird Box, they decided to make one to honor their favorite Laker. The Black Mamba is in the Buffalo sauce family, but it’s about two notches hotter and thicker than your average wing sauce.
